Principle

Donsensor is a quantitative rapid test detecting deoxynivalenol (DON) molecules in maize, wheat, barley, oat and cattle feed samples. The LOQ of Donsensor is 200 µg/kg of DON and the quantification range is from 200 to 15000 µg/kg.

This screening test allows the specific detection of tetracycline residues at concentration lower than respective MRLs.

The convenient dipstick format makes testing easy, accurate and cost-effective. The test can be used in-situ for daily checks or in laboratories for analysis of series of cereal samples.

Benefits

  1. Quantitative — quantification of DON
  2. Rapid — Results in 5 minutes
  3. Sensitive — Low limits of detection (from 200 µg/kg)
  4. User-friendly — Easily performed on site or in the lab and single extraction
  5. Instrumental measurement
  6. Reliable and robust
  7. Cost-Effective
  8. Ecological packaging

Good to Know

Deoxynivalenol (DON), also known as vomitoxin, is a type B trichothecene. It occurs in grains such as wheat, barley, oats, rye, and maize, rice, sorghum. Deoxynivalenol (DON ) is produced by numerous strains of Fusarium and some other fungi. Deoxynivalenol (DON ) poisonings occur both in humans and farm animals.

Deoxynivalenol (DON ) is highly toxic, producing a wide range of immunological disturbances and is particularly noted for inducing feed refusal and emesis in pigs, hence the alternative name vomitoxin. Deoxynivalenol (DON ) usually co-occurs with other Fusarium toxins, such as Zearalenone, Nivalenol and its derivates, as well as the group of fumonisins.
